Name: Puhoro - a Maori designed 925 Sterling Silver necklace with rhodalite garnets
Description: Puhoro This design originates from the realm of Tangaroa, the Maori Guardian of the ocean, traditionally known for his power and protection over the oceans and the seas. It captures the effect of the fast sweeping currents of Te-Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, the Maori name for the Pacific Ocean. The design symbolises speed, agility and endurance. It was used to adorn the hull of Waka Taua (war canoes). The pattern was also used to moko or tattoo the thighs of warriors to enhance their warfare skills. The
925 Chain is 18" long and can be shortened at the clip end.
