Name: Dichroic Glass Sudio Hand-Blown Harlequin Paperweight
Description: Dichroic glass is specially coated glass used as decorative additions on the outside of blown glass pieces ( i.e. stoppered bottles, goblets, vases or bowls) or as inclusions in paperweights. It is produced by a costly and complex process. The selected glass is subjected to a meticulous optical cleaning process and then placed in a heated vacuum chamber. Inside the chamber the surface of the glass is bombarded by an electron beam gun, which coats the glass with various metallic oxides and rare metals to produce a variety of colour effects and patterns. Signed and dated.
